Seller & Maker Policy

1. Trader Traceability, Workshop Verification & Registration Fees

Pursuant to the European Union Digital Services Act (DSA Article 30) trader traceability mandates and United States seller verification laws, all craftsmen, woodworking workshops, and commercial furniture manufacturers seeking to list or issue quotations on FURRT must complete mandatory identity and business verification (Know Your Customer / Know Your Business).

Registration & Onboarding Fee:Every new Seller registration is subject to a non-refundable one-time onboarding fee collected at sign-up. Seller accounts remain locked in a pending state until tax routing documents, physical workshop address proof, and fee payments are verified by FURRT Trust & Safety.

2. 48-Hour Quote SLA & Binding Specification Contracts

Sellers must respond to custom order requests within 48 hours of submission (PENDING_QUOTE → QUOTED). Quotes must provide an itemized cost breakdown covering materials, labor, freight shipping, and platform commission.

Upon Buyer acceptance (QUOTE_ACCEPTED), the quotation specifications, dimensions, timber grade, joinery method, stain color, and production lead time form an enforceable contract for the sale of goods under UCC Article 2.

3. Manufacturing Lifecycle & Progress Media Obligations

Sellers are strictly prohibited from initiating physical manufacturing prior to confirmation of escrow funding (PAYMENT_COMPLETED). Sellers must update order status to IN_PRODUCTION upon commencing work.

For custom commissions with lead times exceeding 14 business days, Sellers must upload at least one progress photograph into the order chat every 7 days. Status must be updated to PRODUCTION_COMPLETE prior to dispatch.

4. Protective Freight Packaging & Carrier Liability

Sellers assume primary financial responsibility for protective freight packaging (custom wooden crating, corner protection guards, moisture vapor barriers). Sellers must issue a valid Bill of Lading (BOL) or courier tracking reference upon setting status to SHIPPED.

Transit casualties or structural breakage resulting from inadequate or improper packaging shall be assessed against the Seller during dispute mediation.

5. Prohibited Merchant Practices & Misrepresentation

• Off-Platform Fee Evasion: Exchanging direct payment details, email addresses, or phone numbers to bypass platform broker fees results in immediate permanent expulsion and liquidating damages.
• Misrepresentation of Origin: Labeling machine-produced, mass-imported flat-pack furniture as "artisan handmade" or "custom crafted" constitutes fraudulent misrepresentation under FTC Section 5 and results in account termination.
