Prohibited & Restricted Items Policy

1. Endangered Timber & CITES Treaty Violations
FURRT maintains a zero-tolerance prohibition against timber harvested illegally or listed under Appendices I, II, or III of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), including uncertified Dalbergia (Rosewood) species and illegal Old-Growth Teak. Sellers must maintain FSC certification or verifiable legal chain-of-custody timber documentation.
2. Statutory Upholstery Flammability & Chemical Safety
Upholstered furniture listed on FURRT must satisfy rigorous regional flammability standards:
- United States: Polyurethane foam and fill materials must comply with California Technical Bulletin TB 117-2013 and federal smolder resistance requirements (16 CFR Part 1640).
- United Kingdom: Upholstery covers and filling materials must satisfy the UK Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 match and cigarette test requirements.
- Chemical Finishes: Lacquers, oils, and stains must adhere to regional Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) limits and contain zero lead-based pigments.
3. Tip-Over Stability & CPSC STURDY Act Compliance
Pursuant to the United States CPSC STURDY Act (Stop Tip-overs of Unstable, Risky Dressers on Youth) and 16 CFR Part 1261 / ASTM F2057-23, clothing storage units exceeding 27 inches in height must include verified tip-over stability construction and include anti-tip restraint hardware packages.
4. Design Patent Counterfeits & Trade Dress Infringement
Listing knockoff reproductions, exact counterfeit copies of iconic protected furniture designs, or items infringing valid design patents, utility patents, or registered trade dress is grounds for immediate listing removal and permanent seller account termination.
